I just finished watching this short drama on Stillpointe, and my heart aches for little Maren. The story begins on a freezing night in the snow. Maren drags her sick mother, Ella, to her father Toren's mansion. She knocks and pleads for money to get medical help. Instead of saving his wife, Toren protects the widow Kaylin and her spoiled daughter Evelyn. He treats his own family like liars.
The emotional hook pulled me in immediately. Toren previously forced Ella to give up a kidney to save Kaylin because Kaylin's late husband once saved his life. Yet Kaylin never needed surgery at all. While Toren shuts the door on his own flesh and blood, a wealthy man named Ron enters the picture. Ron remembers Maren from a time she shared her food with him, and he steps forward to offer genuine shelter and care.

EP 1: Cold Rejection in the Snow
Ella lies bleeding on a wooden board during a heavy snowstorm outside Toren's mansion. Young Maren runs up the frozen steps and pounds on the doors. Toren opens the entrance while holding another girl in his arms. Maren begs him to help her mother. Toren refuses to believe her words. He claims Ella faked her illness to avoid donating a kidney to Kailyn. Toren walks toward his unconscious wife and raises his heavy boot to stomp on her.
EP 2: Blaming the Innocent
Maren weeps on the snowy ground beside her bleeding mother. Evelyn stands nearby and tells Maren that Ella will die this time. When Toren steps into the courtyard, he rushes straight to Evelyn to comfort her. Evelyn claims Maren pushed her down. Toren instantly blames his daughter. Maren begs him to take her bleeding mother to the hospital, but Toren ignores her cries. Kaylin arrives in a wheelchair, and Toren turns away from his family.
EP 3: Shut Out in the Cold
Toren smashes his phone in the snow and scolds his daughter. Evelyn points out blood on Ella's back. Maren explains that her mother recently had kidney surgery, but Toren scoffs at her. He insists Ella owed him that organ. Kailyn sheds tears from her wheelchair to play the victim. Toren believes Kailyn instead of his daughter. Maren grabs her father's hand and pleads for shelter. Toren shakes her off, walks inside with Kailyn and Evelyn, and locks the mansion doors.
EP 4: Collapsed on the Road
Maren pulls a makeshift sled through deep snow at night. The rough rope cuts into her shoulder and makes it bleed. Ella whispers that she is freezing. Maren takes off her own coat and lays it over her mother. She tries to keep pulling in her thin dress, but she slips and scrapes her knee. Maren collapses beside Ella, weeping over why her father abandoned them. Soon, a luxury car approaches. Inside, a wealthy man named Ron recognizes Maren through the window.
EP 5: A Past Kindness Returned
Ron and his assistant rush out to carry the freezing mother and daughter into their heated car. Ron wipes frost from Maren's face. He remembers when he was stranded in town after a thief took his wallet. Young Maren had shared half her bread with him that day. Now Ron looks at the sleeping girl with deep care. He promises to protect her. The vehicle speeds away into the dark night toward safety.
EP 6: A Return to the Mansion
Maren wakes inside the warm car and thanks Ron. She explains her mother needs hospital treatment for an infection. Ron offers to cover the medical bills. Maren politely declines because her mother taught her never to take handouts from strangers. She asks Ron to transport Ella to the clinic while she visits her father for money. Maren returns to Toren's mansion and knocks. Toren opens the door, accuses Ella of a scam, and drags Maren inside against her will.
EP 7: The Spilled Soup
Toren drags Maren into the dining room where Kaylin and Evelyn are eating. Kaylin tells Evelyn to serve Maren hot mushroom soup. Evelyn carries the bowl over, smirks, and drops the scalding liquid onto the floor. She screams and claims Maren shoved the soup at her out of jealousy. Toren orders Maren to apologize. Maren refuses because she did nothing wrong. Toren announces that he is Evelyn's true father now, and he grabs Maren to punish her.
EP 8: Locked in the Dark
Toren locks Maren inside a freezing basement storage room until she agrees to apologize. Meanwhile, Ron stays at the hospital. A doctor reveals that Ella underwent a major kidney transplant despite being severely malnourished, causing a dangerous infection. Ron orders his staff to investigate Ella's history. Back in the mansion, Maren shivers on the cold floor. The storage door creaks open. Evelyn steps inside, dangling Maren's white kitten Ivy by the scruff of its neck.
EP 9: Framed for Ivy's Death
Evelyn mocks Maren inside the dark basement room. She steps hard on Maren's hand and hurls the kitten onto the hard floor, killing it. Maren crawls forward to hold the dead animal. Evelyn hears approaching footsteps and screams for help. Toren runs in, and Evelyn claims Maren killed the pet out of spite. Maren cries and tells the truth, but Toren calls her cruel. He carries Evelyn away and leaves Maren alone in the dark.
EP 10: The Terrible Secret
Toren buys Evelyn a purebred cat on the balcony. Down in the frozen garden, Maren digs through hard soil with bare hands to bury Ivy. She enters the mansion to beg Kaylin to talk to Toren about hospital funds. Kaylin drops her friendly mask. She admits she was never sick. She demanded an organ transplant simply to humiliate Ella. Kaylin leans close to Maren's ear and reveals she threw the donated kidney to her guard dogs.
EP 11: Inside the Dog Cage
Maren enters the dim kennel hallway to find Kaylin's guard dog, Brutus. She spots Ella's donated kidney resting inside the food bowl. Maren uses a long metal rod to hook the dish. The bowl gets stuck, so she unlatches the cage door to reach inside. She takes hold of the bowl. The ferocious animal barks and lunges directly at her, knocking the little girl onto her back on the ground.
EP 12: The Wheelchair Lie
Maren lies trapped inside the kennel cage while Kaylin and Evelyn watch from outside. Evelyn orders their black dog Bruce to attack. Bruce bites at Maren, scraping her knee. The hound jumps forward to bite her throat. In self-defense, Maren points an upward metal rod, stabbing the attacking beast. Kaylin screams in fury. She stands straight up from her wheelchair, storms into the cage, and raises the weapon toward Maren.
