I just finished watching this fantasy drama on Stillpointe, and I need to talk through what happens. The story centers on Serafina, an exiled girl raised on Black Dragon Island who believes she is an ordinary black dragon outcast. In truth, she is the legendary gold dragon princess born to Queen Marina and King Orion. Before King Orion could meet his newborn daughter, Queen Marina's jealous stepsister Ravenna cursed the child's egg black. Ravenna attacked Queen Marina, but the Queen used her last strength to teleport the egg to safety across the sea.
Eighteen years pass before Serafina's magic begins to show itself during a sea monster attack on her island. When she travels to the Southern Kingdom capital in disguise, she clashes with Princess Leyla. Leyla is Ravenna's arrogant daughter who runs down citizens in the street and attacks anyone in her way. When Serafina repels Leyla's dragon fire with radiant gold scales, Leyla steals the credit. She tells the King that she unlocked the legendary gold magic. The King puts his faith in Leyla to defend the capital against the looming beast tide, unaware that his true child is wandering his palace dressed as a maid.

The Despised Black Dragon Is the True Queen Episode Guide
EP 1: The Cursed Dragon Egg
Queen Marina gives birth to a dragon egg in the Southern Kingdom. The egg turns black. The sight horrifies the Queen. Ravenna claims the egg is a cursed omen and tries to smash it. Grand Elder Edmund had revealed a prophecy that Marina's child would be a mighty gold dragon, which drove Ravenna to curse the child with dark magic. Marina casts a teleportation seal to send the egg away. Ravenna strikes Marina through the chest with dragon claws. The egg lands on Black Dragon Island. Mora finds the egg and sees golden light inside.
EP 2: Eighteen Years in Exile
The black egg hatches into a baby covered in black scales on the rocky shore. A resident takes pity on the baby and vows to raise her. King Orion returns to the palace in grief. Ravenna lies to him, claiming Marina took her own life after laying a cursed egg. Orion marries Ravenna, while Marina's daughter Serafina grows up on the island. Eighteen years later, swarms of sea beasts trigger a tsunami. Serafina tries to protect the islanders. Her eyes and body ignite with golden dragon energy to stop the wave.
EP 3: Journey to the Royal Capital
Serafina calms down after deflecting the tsunami. Her island guardian tells her that black dragons cannot command gold light. She urges Serafina to visit the Grand Elder in the capital to learn her true identity. Serafina disguises herself in a cloak and reaches the city street. Princess Leyla's royal carriage speeds recklessly into the market toward a toddler. Serafina dashes into the street, scoops up the child, and rolls out of danger. Princess Leyla looks out her carriage window and angrily orders her guards to clear Serafina from her path.
EP 4: Golden Scales Awakened
Royal guards fire ice projectiles at Serafina and the rescued toddler. Serafina tells the child to run and unleashes a shockwave that knocks the guards into the canal. Princess Leyla steps out of her carriage with energy daggers and strikes. Serafina easily blocks the blades with her forearm. Leyla transforms into a giant green dragon and blasts fire at her. The dragon fire triggers Serafina's hidden power. Radiant gold scales and glowing gold eyes manifest on her skin. The magic deflects the flames and throws Leyla and the carriage back.
EP 5: The Prophecy Wall Awakens
Serafina notices the gold power lingering on her skin and flees into the capital crowd. Leyla crawls out of her wrecked carriage and orders guards to hunt the black dragon down. Inside the royal palace, the Prophecy Wall activates with a golden dragon image. A white-bearded elder warns the King that the legendary gold dragon has returned. The kingdom must find this protector before the beast tide strikes. Leyla limps into the throne room, bruised and shaken. The King demands she explain what happened during the burst of gold magic.
EP 6: Stolen Glory and the Queen's Face
Leyla lies to the King and claims she released the gold dragon magic during the street fight. Ravenna backs up the lie. The King entrusts the defense of the capital to Leyla. Back in her chambers, Leyla furiously demands that her servants find the black dragon. Serafina disguises herself in maid clothes and carries a brass basin through the palace halls. She steps into the courtyard garden to look for the Grand Elder. There she spots a marble statue of Queen Marina and drops her basin in shock. The statue shares her exact face.
EP 7: Secrets by the Marble Statue
Serafina hides near the monument as the silver-haired King arrives with white lilies to mourn Marina. When Serafina steps in water, the King spots her. He grabs her shoulders in disbelief because she looks identical to his late wife. He releases her when he fails to sense his bloodline in her. Serafina walks away with an instinctive familiarity toward him. The King speaks to the statue and mourns their lost black dragon daughter. She overhears his confession. Serafina realizes she is a black dragon who matches the late Queen's appearance.
EP 8: The Beast Tide Arrives
Serafina tries to approach the King, but Leyla corners her on a terrace above the sea. Suddenly, dark clouds gather. The Beast Tide strikes three days ahead of schedule. Flying beasts and a massive two-headed Beast Lord swarm the city. The King rushes to the ramparts to fight the horde. He calls for Leyla to unleash her gold dragon power. Terrified, Leyla claims she is injured and hides behind the royal guards. The King casts an ice barrier against the Beast Lord, but the monster breaks it and leaves him wounded.
EP 9: The True Dragon Unveiled
Serafina helps the wounded King to his feet on the ramparts. A woman in black armor mocks Serafina for possessing small black wings and failing to shift. Serafina ignores the insults and flies toward the two-headed Beast Lord over the stormy sea. The monster strikes Serafina with a blast that encases her inside a floating black monolith. Golden cracks split the dark stone open moments later. Serafina breaks free with golden wings, golden claws, and glowing eyes. A colossal golden dragon materializes in the sky above the kingdom's sea.
