Shocked, she uses a stethoscope gauge to measure her vitals and mutters that it must be a documented physiological reaction. Her explanation fails when an abnormal red light begins pulsating right through the fabric over her heart.

2. EP 2: The Frozen Facility

   An open military vehicle drives into a heavily guarded industrial compound during a snowstorm at night. A female officer in a heavy coat walks along frosty corridors flanked by armed soldiers as blast doors open before her. She enters a cell block where shivering prisoners sit locked behind frozen bars. Stopping outside one specific door crusted with thick frost, she takes out a medical stethoscope and presses it against the cold metal door to listen to whatever is moving inside.

3. EP 3: Prince Alexei Vymensky

   Outside a frozen cell, a prisoner whispers about warmth. A senior officer with glasses arrives and introduces Lieutenant Volkova to Subject Seven, Prince Alexei Vymensky, who has been alive since 1462. Alexei presses his hand against the glass partition, leaving behind an icy sigil. When Volkova places her gloved hand against the barrier, ice melts into water droplets on her bare skin. As her superior explains she was brought here for this exact reason, Volkova looks up with glowing heterochromatic eyes.

4. EP 4: Memories of Fire and Frost

   A golden eye opens and triggers a flood of memories. In flashbacks, an officer in glasses holds an infant while a dying mother begs him to let the baby choose to be human. Another memory shows a restrained man roaring as flames erupt from inside his body. A drop of blood falls into a basin and splits into fire and frost. Back in the facility, the young woman breathes against the glass, forming a trident-shaped snowflake, and asks what she is.

5. EP 5: Shattered Containment

   An older officer takes the female officer to a containment viewing window, wondering if the captive inside is why the Soviet Union survives or why it will burn. A pale, silver-haired man with glowing amber eyes steps through the mist. He senses the officer and whispers that his blood is alive. Frost quickly spreads across the partition, the female officer's eyes glow with blue and amber light, and the thick glass violently shatters, sending an icy blizzard tearing through the hallway.

6. EP 6: The Underground Cell Block

   The female officer rides an elevator down into a subterranean containment zone, adjusting her uniform as steam rises from the floor. Once the heavy blast doors slide open, she walks down a corridor illuminated by red emergency lights. A handcuffed female inmate calls out through the iron bars to mock the terrible food. The officer stops in her tracks, pulls out a notepad and a pen, and calmly demands that the prisoner provide her assigned subject number.

7. EP 7: Lieutenant Volkova and Prisoner 1954

   In the cell block, Lieutenant Volkova speaks with an inmate who has been held for over nineteen years, correctly calculating that she was sixteen when captured. Volkova then moves down a red-lit corridor to a high-security containment cell holding a chained, shirtless man marked with glowing red scars. Volkova enters the room and introduces herself. The prisoner warns her that she is standing too close, declaring that the fire in his blood recognized her true nature immediately.

8. EP 8: The Truth About Her Mother

   The female officer places her hand against the high-security glass, watching frost spread across the panel, and asks the captive what she is. She asks if he knew her mother. The chained captive bitterly replies that her mother froze herself to death so her child could be born human. He then scolds the officer for wearing the enemy uniform and carrying their tools. The revelation leaves the officer crying in shock as she stares at the prisoner.

9. EP 9: Phase Two Initiated

   The chained fiery prisoner warns the woman that flame and frost cannot mix according to the laws of their kind. Looking at her blade reflection, Lieutenant Volkova insists he is not her father. In surveillance, an older officer confirms the captive recognized the blood bond, marks Phase 1 complete, and summons Volkova to Medical Bay 3. As Volkova walks past cell blocks, an inmate notes she carries his eyes and her fire, while the captive watches her glowing frost print.
