Claire hands Lily an HIV-positive test result at the hospital. Lily begs for a cure, grabs Claire, and screams a curse while security drags her away. Claire goes home, where Margaret and Mark pressure her to get pregnant with twins through IVF. Claire refuses to abandon her medical research or risk her health. Margaret declares another woman will have Mark's child, and Lily enters the room with a smile. Claire recognizes her immediately.
Claire gives Lily an HIV-positive test report in her clinic. Lily panics, dumps cash from her purse, and grips Claire's hands while pleading for her life. Security guards and nurses drag Lily out as she screams curses at Claire.
At home, Margaret tells Claire to produce a family heir. Mark goes back on their child-free promise and asks for IVF twins. Claire stands firm, refusing to give up her vaccine research or risk her health as an older mother.
Margaret announces that another woman will bear Mark's child and calls Lily into the living room. Lily walks in smiling. Claire freezes in terror as she recognizes the smiling guest as the HIV-positive patient from her clinic earlier.
“Claire if you won't save me you'll take just the bear too!”
“Having children is a woman's duty.”
“Plenty of women will Lily!”
“It was you.”
Lily steps into the living room with a calm smile, ready to bear a child for Mark. Claire stares at her in absolute shock, knowing the woman carries HIV.
