Students push Liam to the ground while Blair throws Liam's half of a silver coin onto a high ledge. Liam scales the clock tower wall under taunts from the mob and scolding from an official. After grabbing the coin, Liam falls from the tower. Viktor smashes the academy barrier on his black dragon and catches his fallen brother on the cobblestones. Liam sees their matching coins before blacking out.
Students push Liam to the academy ground and shout insults at him. Blair waves Liam's half of a silver coin in his face. Then Blair flings the coin high onto a tower ledge and orders Liam to get it.
Liam pulls himself up the stone walls of the clock tower to reach his coin. Down below, the mob of students chants for him to jump. An academy official with a staff yells at Liam to stop causing trouble.
Liam reaches the high ledge and picks up the silver coin piece. As he holds it, memories of false accusations and abuse rush into his mind. He wonders to himself why nobody at the academy will believe him.
Viktor crashes through the protective barrier of the academy riding on a black dragon. He swoops straight into the courtyard and screams Liam's name. At that exact second, Liam loses his grip and plunges off the high tower.
Viktor lands and gathers the critically injured Liam in his arms on the pavement. Liam spots Viktor's matching dragon coin piece and watches the two halves fit together. Realizing the truth, Liam blacks out from his severe injuries.
“Please, give me back that silver coin.”
“Go up and get it yourself.”
“Liam, get down immediately! Stop causing more trouble for the academy!”
“Liam, open your eyes! I won't let you die here!”
Liam lies unconscious in Viktor's arms after seeing their two coin halves fit together. Viktor kneels over his critically injured brother on the academy stones, consumed by pain and fury.
