Episode: 1
During a previous life, Raven Carter defeats a monster and collects its energy core on a ruined battlefield. Adrian Hill seizes the core, drains Raven's psychic energy, and hands it to Lilian. They fly away, leaving Raven behind to be eaten by The Devourer. Raven opens her eyes at the bonding ceremony. The Headmaster recommends Adrian. Raven rejects Adrian and selects Noah Vale instead.
Raven Carter slays a monster to secure an energy core. Adrian Hill takes the core and forcibly drains Raven's psychic power into Lilian. The pair flies off together, leaving Raven powerless under the tentacles of The Devourer to be devoured.
Raven wakes up at the academy bonding hall. The Headmaster advises her to pick Adrian, the gold-robed S-Rank Source. Seeing Adrian exchange secret looks with Lilian, Raven refuses him. She calls out Noah Vale, the zero-ranked student sitting in the corner.
“You've been in our way long enough. Lilian is all I want.”
“Thanks for the energy, my dear sister. I'll be the new strongest Blade now.”
“Raven, it's time to choose your Source. As the highest-ranked Blade, you can choose anyone.”
“Headmaster, I choose Noah Vale.”
“What? Noah's psychic rating is zero! He can't bond with anyone!”
Raven announces her choice, causing a wave of shock across the hall. Students mutter that Noah Vale has zero psychic ability and cannot form a bond with anyone. Raven stands firm and smiles with absolute certainty. Can Raven actually establish a psychic link with an academy reject whose rating is zero?
