Marco De Luca comes to New York with a simple mission from his father. As the sole heir of the De Luca crime family, he takes a private ship to the city to meet Isabella Moretti, the rising boss on the East Coast. His father spent a year setting up their arranged marriage. Marco avoids flying because his mother died in an airplane crash, so he drives an unmarked armored sedan into the Moretti headquarters parking lot. Before he can even step into the building, a red sports car speeding in reverse smashes directly into his front bumper.
The sports car belongs to Isabella, but the driver is her toxic childhood companion Nico. Nico claims he runs the East Coast as Isabella's executive assistant, and he demands Marco kneel. Marco immediately calls his betrothed to handle her man, yet Isabella dismisses him without listening. When Marco reveals his identity, matters only turn worse. Nico and Isabella humiliate Marco, mock his family, and demand twenty million dollars for the wrecked sports car. Marco refuses to grovel. He destroys the rest of the car, pulls out a black card, and cancels the engagement on the spot.
Isabella orders her guards to take Marco down. Marco manages to fight back, but their numbers overwhelm him. Before Nico raises a weapon, Marco presses a secret transmitter inside his coat sleeve. A satellite emergency alert pings his father back at De Luca headquarters. As Nico lands blow after blow and tears away Marco's most sacred possession, the De Luca boss prepares to answer the call. She Let Him Break My Legs, I Took Her Empire Episode Guide
EP 1: A Rough Arrival in New York
Marco travels by ship to New York and drives an unmarked armored sedan left by his father. At Moretti headquarters, a speeding red sports car crashes head-on into Marco's car. The sports car front is destroyed, but Marco's car has no damage. The driver steps out, shouts insults, and boasts that he is Isabella Moretti's executive assistant. Marco picks up his phone and dials Isabella on the spot, asking her if she taught her assistant to behave like he owns the city.
EP 2: Insults in the Parking Lot
Marco gives Isabella an opportunity to clear up the crash. Isabella cuts him off, orders him not to mess with Nico, and hangs up immediately. Nico mocks Marco for calling Bella. He orders Marco to kneel and lick his shoes clean. Marco exits his armored vehicle and ridicules Nico for drunk driving and hiding behind a woman. Nico loses his temper, curses Marco, and lunges forward to attack him.
EP 3: Face to Face with Isabella
Marco blocks Nico's punch and knocks him to the ground. Nico pulls out a gun and aims at Marco's head. Marco disarms Nico in seconds. Isabella arrives with a team of armed guards and commands Marco to drop the weapon. Nico rushes to her side. Marco tosses the gun away and decides to give the arranged meeting a fair chance. He smiles, steps forward, and introduces himself as Marco De Luca, her arranged fiancé.
EP 4: The Engagement Is Off
Guests look on as Isabella looks down at Marco's simple coat and car. She announces she will never marry a nobody and states the marriage was solely her father's scheme. Marco tells her to inform her father that the engagement is off. As he turns to leave, Nico stops him and demands ten million dollars to fix the rare sports car. Marco pulls out a black card marked with a crown emblem to settle the bill.
EP 5: Blood and Demands
Marco states the black card can bring another sports car from Europe before sunset. Nico mocks the card as a fake gym pass and reaches out to grab it. Marco steps to the side. Nico scrapes his cheek against the sharp edge of the card and bleeds. Nico screams that Marco attacked him. Isabella hurries over and demands an apology. Nico asks for twenty million dollars and demands Marco kneel. Marco puts his card away and walks toward the car.
EP 6: Destroying the Ferrari
Marco climbs onto the hood of the red car, kicks the windshield, and shoots directly into the engine block. Smoke fills the plaza as spectators watch in shock. Marco steps down and says twenty million dollars is a fair price to avoid listening to Isabella talk. Nico presses a handgun directly against Marco's forehead while armed guards draw rifles. Marco shows no fear and vows the Moretti name will vanish from New York by sunrise.
EP 7: Pinned to the Ground
Nico urges Isabella to punish Marco so the city does not see their family as weak. Isabella gives the order to kill Marco. Moretti enforcers swarm him. Marco fires back and uses hand-to-hand combat to drop several men. A guard hits Marco from behind with a rifle butt. The enforcers pin Marco face down against the hard floor. Nico walks over, slaps Marco twice, and steps his dress shoe directly onto Marco's face.
EP 8: The Emergency Signal
While Nico and his henchmen laugh, Marco uses his thumb to trigger a satellite emergency alert hidden inside his sleeve. Across the distance, Marco's father receives the red alert signal with Marco's exact location. Nico picks up a baton and violently shatters Marco's right leg. Nico prepares to strike the other leg. Marco glares past him at Isabella, who silently wipes her hands. Marco warns her that she will regret this night forever.
EP 9: The Stolen Ring
Isabella mocks Marco and says his father begged for the wedding. Nico strikes again, breaking Marco's other leg. Nico then tears open Marco's collar and rips off the gold chain holding his late mother's wedding ring. Marco demands it back, but Nico insults his dead mother and tosses the ring away. As Marco drags himself across the ground toward the ring, Nico steps hard on his hand and lifts the baton to hit him again.
