I just finished watching this series on Stillpointe, and I need to share the story immediately. It opens with Evelyn Vale being thrown straight into the rain and mud outside her former home. Her ex-husband, Adrian Mercer, turns his back and walks inside without a second thought. Injured and freezing, Evelyn pushes through a blizzard in the Grayhaven Neutral Zone until she spots a notice. A powerful pack needs a stepmother for a four-year-old pup, and the job comes with absolute safety.
That offer leads her straight to the iron gates of Black Ridge Pack, known across the north as a terrifying territory. Housekeeper Martha brings her in with stiff warnings, leading Evelyn directly to Alpha Rowan Hale. Rowan cannot get his traumatized little boy, Noah, to eat a single bite. Noah hides under the dining table while his father stands by helplessly. Rowan hands Evelyn a hot bowl of soup and sets a harsh rule: she must get the pup to drink it before it turns cold, or she will be thrown off their land.
What follows is a sweet and steady bond forming between Evelyn and the guarded boy. She uses simple games and quiet patience to draw him out. Rowan notices her care and offers a formal contract-mate agreement that gives her real standing, independent money, and absolute protection without any unwanted demands. Seeing Noah step outside for the first time in years just to stay by her side is wonderful. EP 1: The Gate of Black Ridge
Adrian Mercer has his guards toss Evelyn Vale into the mud. She drags her injured body through a snow blizzard in the Grayhaven Neutral Zone and finds a recruitment notice. It seeks a stepmother for a four-year-old pup, promising complete protection. Evelyn reaches the gates of Black Ridge Pack. Housekeeper Martha lets her inside and warns her not to seduce Alpha Rowan Hale. In the dining room, Rowan struggles with his young son Noah, who is hiding under the table. Rowan orders Evelyn to make Noah drink soup before it gets cold.
EP 2: Winning the Pup's Heart
Evelyn uses a toy wooden guard to turn mealtime into a game. Noah drinks the soup willingly. Rowan directs Martha to place Evelyn in the best guest room on the second floor, though Martha warns her that the third floor is strictly off-limits. The next day, Noah refuses food again. Evelyn arranges a barbecue race between Noah and a military dog out in the snow. Noah eats hungrily. Rowan objects at first but lets it continue once he sees his son smiling. Later that night, Rowan invites Evelyn to sit by the fire to talk business.
EP 3: A Contract Signed
Rowan asks Evelyn about her past and explains Noah's long trauma. He proposes a contract-mate agreement without physical demands or marking, guaranteeing pack protection and a private trust fund. Evelyn signs the paperwork the following morning in his study and puts on the ring he gives her. Pack staff treat her with genuine deference during dinner. Noah notices the ring and understands she intends to stay. Late that evening, the shy boy cracks open Evelyn's bedroom door holding a picture book and asks her to read him a story.
EP 4: Stepping Outside
Evelyn reads Noah to sleep as he clutches her sleeve. The next morning, Rowan presents a revised contract doubling her trust fund payment, reminding her that fair compensation shows respect. Noah follows Evelyn everywhere over the next few days. When she prepares to visit a clinic for her old injuries, Noah panics. Martha reveals the boy has refused to step outside since a tragedy two years ago. Terrified of losing Evelyn, Noah runs outside, climbs into the car seat, and insists on going along to protect her.
EP 5: Ambush at the Market
At the clinic, a doctor tells Evelyn her wolf lies dormant from past trauma and needs a secure environment to wake. Noah comforts Evelyn with a piece of candy. Rowan rushes over after Martha alerts him and provides Evelyn with her own vehicle while banning pack members from using Alpha pressure on her. Later, Evelyn and Noah browse an outdoor market. Adrian Mercer suddenly confronts them, demanding Evelyn return to serve his mother. Noah steps forward to shield her. Adrian shoves the pup, and Noah bites Adrian's leg hard.
