Hologram broadcasts from cyborg official Vene announce the Duke has died and offer a 100,000 ether reward for runaway traitors. The girl weeps, realizing Vene murdered her father. Karen brings her to an underground bar run by his former comrade Simus to buy passes into the wasteland. Simus chooses the bounty over their past friendship and triggers the red alarm. Shotgun-toting masked guards trap them in the corridor, forcing Karen to step forward and charge his glowing mechanical arm.
