Rico skips his regular morning workout routine. Instead, he stays in bed propped against the headboard, texting on his phone until eight in the morning. Layla asks if he plans to attend Seraphina's welcome-back gala. Rico confirms it and asks if she wants to go. Layla starts to ask if he wants her by his side, but she quickly drops it. She knows showing up as his hidden wife would only bring humiliation. Rico gets out of bed in silence, while Layla reads Seraphina's online comments dismissing the gossip about her past with Rico.
