Julian and Evelyn talk in their living room until a video call from Clara interrupts them. Clara cries that she fell down the stairs and cannot get to a hospital alone. In a panic, Julian buys a flight ticket and asks Evelyn for permission to leave. Evelyn calmly permits him to go. Julian packs his suitcase and drives away. The next morning, Evelyn spots a social media post of Julian preparing steak for Clara.
Evelyn and Julian sit on their living room sofa in the middle of a conversation. Julian's mobile phone rings with an incoming video call. The screen displays Clara's name, interrupting their discussion.
Julian answers the call to find Clara crying in a stairwell. Clara says she fell down the steps and sprained her foot. She tells him she cannot move and has nobody else to drive her to the hospital.
Julian panics and immediately searches for flights. He tests Evelyn's reaction and explains the situation. Evelyn remains quiet and tells him to go help Clara. Julian breathes a sigh of relief at her calm response.
Clara sends another urgent message. Julian quickly throws his clothes into a suitcase and leaves the apartment. He gets into his car and speeds off toward Logan International Airport, leaving Evelyn completely alone in the house.
The next morning, Evelyn sits alone in the quiet living room. She scrolls through her phone and opens Clara's social feed. A new photo displays Julian wearing an apron while pan-frying a steak directly for Clara.
“Julian, my foot hurts so much. I can't move...”
“Don't move. Do not move! I'll book a flight right now.”
“Eve, Clara hurt her foot. I have to go over there and check on her first.”
“Go take care of what you need to do.”
Evelyn stares at the online photo of Julian cooking steak in an apron for Clara. Julian left without hesitation, completely blind to Evelyn's quiet detachment. With Julian now overseas by Clara's side, how will Evelyn proceed with her own plans to leave him behind for good?
