Episode: 4
In the foggy mountain drive, Ximena deals with growing nausea after forgetting her medicine at home. She asks Preston to stop at a rest station, but he ignores her while laughing with Blair up front. This triggers painful college memories for Ximena. She recalls doing all the prep work for Preston's sophomore photo exhibition and his junior year shoot, only to watch him celebrate with Blair and leave her behind both times.
Preston tells Ximena to close her eyes as they drive along the foggy mountain road. Her motion sickness gets worse in the back seat. She checks her things and realizes her pills are sitting in a drawer at home.
Holding her stomach, Ximena asks Preston to pull over at the next rest stop so she can get pills. Preston murmurs an indifferent reply. Blair blasts loud music and shares camera photos with Preston while Ximena stays silent in pain.
Ximena remembers spending three days sprinting between print shops for Preston's exhibition. When she arrives carrying flowers, she sees Preston and Blair accepting praise from the professor together. Ximena gets pushed to the corner to pack empty boxes.
Ximena recalls weeks spent researching routes, purchasing supplies, and renting camera gear for Preston's remote shoot. Preston called on departure morning to say his car had no room. He abandoned Ximena with her luggage while Blair rode up front.
“You heard her. Close your eyes.”
“Preston, can we stop at the next rest stop? I need to buy some medicine.”
“Look at this one! It's so cinematic! If we cut this trip right, it's definitely going viral!”
“Not bad, Director Blair.”
In the flashback, Ximena stands alone on the street with her packed suitcase in tears. Looking at her phone, she sees Blair's new Instagram post sitting in Preston's passenger seat. Back in the present, will Preston actually pull over for Ximena's motion sickness, or will he keep prioritizing Blair as they drive through the mountains?
