Rowan Aurelius and Kaleb Aurelius corner Lyra Solis in her palace bedroom before she can depart. Rowan casts High Lord's Compulsion on her, forcing her body to strip their clothes and climb into bed. The princes kiss her to fulfill an ancient ritual before claiming Blair. Lyra breaks the enchantment by vomiting blood and shoves them away. Kaleb declares their scent on her skin is enough, then calls to assemble the council.
Lyra Solis readies herself to leave the royal palace behind. Rowan Aurelius and Kaleb Aurelius block her path in the room. Rowan ignores her objections and uses High Lord's Compulsion magic directly against her will.
Lyra's eyes glow gold as the compulsion magic overpowers her senses. Unable to stop herself, she strips off her own clothes and undresses the two princes. Rowan and Kaleb lead her toward the bed while she remains trapped.
The brothers touch and kiss Lyra on the bed. Rowan explains that old laws require them to claim her prior to Blair. Kaleb confesses their long-standing desire for Lyra, but Rowan tells him to imagine Blair instead.
Lyra abruptly snaps out of the magic hold. She vomits blood across the bedsheets and violently shoves Rowan and Kaleb off her body. Both brothers freeze in surprise as the golden spell leaves her eyes.
Weeping and spattered with blood, Lyra screams at the brothers for attacking her. Rowan claims they had to follow ancient laws to survive monsters. Kaleb decides their scent on her skin is sufficient and orders the council gathered.
“By the blood of the High Lords, Lyra, obey us. Yield to us.”
“If we want to claim Blair, we have to claim Lyra first.”
“First you trade me away like I'm nothing, and now you force yourselves on me? Why can't you just leave me alone?”
“Don't go soft now, brother. Our scent is all over her. That's enough to complete the ritual.”
Kaleb pulls his clothes back on and announces that their scent across Lyra is plenty to finish the ritual. He yells out the order to gather the council at once, leaving Lyra weeping and bloodstained on the bed. What will the princes demand when the council gathers to seal the bond?
