Episode: 6
Noah notices Claire Miller holding graduation papers and asks what she wants as a gift. Claire asks him to accompany her to a travel clinic for vaccine boosters. The following afternoon, Noah announces he is taking Ellie Miller shopping instead. He tells Claire to move her appointment, and Ellie acts innocent. Claire tells Noah to leave with Ellie. Claire takes a bus alone, gets her shots, and buys a ticket to Chicago.
Noah spots Claire Miller carrying her graduation paperwork and offers to buy her a present. Claire asks him to go with her to the travel clinic the next afternoon for mandatory overseas vaccine boosters. Noah agrees to join her.
The next afternoon, Noah comes downstairs after two o'clock. He tells Claire he has to drive Ellie Miller to the outlet malls first. Noah tells Claire to reschedule her appointment. Ellie acts selfless, and Claire tells Noah to take her.
Claire Miller rides a public bus to the travel clinic by herself and gets her required booster injection. After finishing her medical appointment, she walks straight to the bus station and buys a ticket to Chicago for the next day.
“What do you want for graduation? I promised I'd get you something.”
“Come to the travel clinic with me tomorrow afternoon. I need a few vaccine boosters.”
“Ellie's leaving tomorrow, so obviously her shopping is more urgent.”
“Go with her.”
Claire Miller finishes her vaccination appointment alone, without any help from Noah. She immediately goes to the bus station and pays for a ticket to Chicago leaving tomorrow. Will Noah and Ellie realize Claire is walking away from the family for good, or will they only notice once she is already gone?
