Episode: 1
Elena puts on the frost-forged Winter Gown to hide her dragon powers and live as an ordinary mortal. Atlas marries her and leaves for war with a vow of love. Three years later, Atlas returns as a hero. Elena waits with a handmade laurel crown. Instead of embracing Elena, Atlas helps the pregnant knight Morgana off her horse, kisses her, and names Morgana his future bride before the crowd.
Clara brings the frost-forged Winter Gown to Elena inside the lair. Elena puts on the garment, locking away her magical dragon abilities. She tells Clara she wants to give up the strife of her royal title and live as Atlas's wife.
A flashback reveals Atlas and Elena getting married outside the cathedral. Atlas presents Elena with a ring made from his very first sword. He promises that he will love her forever and departs for the warfront immediately after their wedding.
Elena sits inside a carriage while traveling toward the city. She weaves a golden laurel crown for Atlas with her bare hands, accidentally pricking her fingers on the metal. She ignores the pain as she prepares to welcome her husband home.
Citizens gather around a brand-new statue of General Thorne to celebrate his military triumph. Beatrice and Isabel sneer at Elena in the crowd. Nearby townsfolk speak up, reminding everyone that Elena personally sustained House Thorne throughout three difficult years.
Atlas rides into the square wearing golden plate armor. Elena runs out toward him, but she stops when she sees who is riding beside him. Atlas helps a pregnant female knight named Morgana down from her horse and kisses her lips.
Morgana laughs and belittles Elena directly in front of the citizens. Atlas speaks aloud to the entire courtyard, declaring Morgana as his soon-to-be wife. Elena loses her grip on the golden laurel crown, and Morgana grinds it beneath her boot.
“Why seal your power and suffer as a mortal?”
“Clara, I'm tired of all the strife that title brings. All I want now is to be Atlas's wife.”
“This ring was forged from my first sword. It once guarded my life, and now it will guard our vow. I'll love you forever.”
“Darling, so this is your wife that's only good for cooking and cleaning?”
“She is my soon-to-be wife.”
Elena stands in disbelief as Atlas publicly announces Morgana as his bride-to-be. Elena drops the golden laurel crown she spent hours crafting, and Morgana promptly grinds it under her boot with a smirk. How will Elena respond to Atlas's open betrayal after sacrificing her dragon heritage to support his house?
