Monica tells Layla that Darren already signed her transfer waiver. Layla is stunned that her husband acted behind her back. She stops Darren in the hallway to ask why he signed and lied about her eyesight. Darren shrugs her off and says they are only colleagues. Layla has a mortgage, car loan, and hospital bills for Darren's mother. She signs the document and plans to get her real medical report from HR.
Monica tells Layla that Darren already signed her transfer waiver. She adds that Darren thinks she needs a change of pace. Layla is stunned to hear this news, realizing her husband agreed to the demotion without discussing it with her first.
Layla confronts Darren in the hallway about his signature on the reassignment papers. She demands to know why he claims her eyes are bad when her vision is fine. Darren avoids her questions and tells her they are just colleagues at work.

“Darren's already signed off on it as your directive waiver. He agrees you need a change of pace.”
“Layla, Monica told me about your eyesight.”
