Adeline sits alone in her cottage and drinks scalding milk left by Silas. When nobody comes to check on her, she runs into the rainy woods. She falls repeatedly on the muddy trail, bloodying her knees. She reaches a cabin and knocks on the door. Dante answers with a cold glare. Adeline looks past him to find Silas, which angers Dante. Dante turns toward the interior and loudly mocks her to Silas.
Adeline drinks the hot milk Silas left behind and burns her tongue. She waits for Dante, Ridge, or Silas to soothe her pain like before. Nobody appears, and she stares at the quiet, empty space around her.
Adeline rushes outside into the twilight woods. She races down a slick path in the pouring rain. Her feet slip beneath her, and she crashes onto the stones, leaving her knees bleeding as she pushes forward.
Adeline arrives at the cabin and pounds against the wooden door. Dante pulls it open and stares down at her. He glances at her bloody injuries with irritation and questions why she showed up at their doorstep.
A memory appears of young Adeline crying from injuries. Dante scolded her recklessness in the past, but he always arrived to help. He washed her scrapes clean and placed a gentle kiss against her temple to soothe her tears.
Adeline peers into the room, searching past Dante for Silas. Dante sees her looking for someone else, and his expression turns harsh. He faces the inside of the cabin and calls out a cruel remark to Silas.
“What are you doing here?”
“Use your brain, Adeline. You never think about the consequences.”
“Silas, you didn't scrub her scent off you, did you? Addie sniffed it out and bolted right over. What are you gonna do when Mira finds out?”
Dante shouts into the cabin, ridiculing Adeline for tracking Silas's scent in the rain. He warns Silas about what Mira will say if she finds out. Adeline stands in front of the open door, weeping in shock at his hostility. Will Silas step outside to face her, or will he hide behind Dante's cruelty?
