Guarded by a Queen Episode Guide
EP 1: The Immortal Vow
Sophia secures peace across the realm, sharing tender moments with Mary in the hot spring. Deputy General David turns Sophia's own army against her outside the palace. David attempts a fatal sneak attack, but Mary leaps forward and takes the blow. Before dying, Mary begs Sophia to live on. A mysterious witch appears, handing Sophia the Elixir of Immortality. Sophia accepts centuries of solitude to find Mary's soul. She drinks the elixir, marks behind Mary's ear with a drop of blood, and watches Mary's body turn into golden light.
EP 2: A Thousand Years Later
Ten centuries pass. Sophia sits in a luxurious garden, still longing for Mary. Her subordinate William reports that her fortune exceeds that of the world's richest person. He presents a childhood photograph of Mary Hansen, an heiress who vanished twenty-five years ago with a red heart-shaped mark. Sophia decides to investigate in person. As her car drives down the street, Kate Gray sits on a nearby public bench eating a sandwich. Kate lifts her hair, showing a matching red birthmark. Sophia spots the mark through the window.
EP 3: The Forced Match
Kate returns home after her meal on the street. Her adoptive mother Lucy hands her a glass of water. Lucy and her daughter Evelyn demand that Kate hand over $300,000 or marry their elderly landlord, Mr. Robert, to cover the rent. Evelyn refuses to settle for Robert because she wants the master of Rose Manor. Kate rejects the forced marriage on the spot. The drugged water takes effect almost immediately. Kate loses her strength and collapses unconscious on the living room couch.
EP 4: Crash on the Street
Robert arrives at the house to collect the unconscious Kate, promising the family the property deed the next day. Kate wakes enough to plead for help, but her mother shuts the door. Robert bundles Kate into his car. During the drive, Kate pulls a metal hairpin from her hair and stabs her own hand to stay awake. She throws open the moving car door to jump out. Robert tries to stop her, loses control of the wheel, and crashes hard into a car right in front of Sophia.
EP 5: Rose Manor Rescues
Kate tumbles out of the crashed vehicle and crawls along the pavement calling for help. The driver rushes after her, grabbing her hair and beating her in the street. Sophia recognizes the woman's face and kicks the attacker away. She gathers Kate into her arms while William twists the attacker's wrist and shuts down his assault. The violent man realizes their vehicle belongs to the legendary Rose Manor and falls to the ground in fear. Sophia orders William to drive them straight home to the manor.
EP 6: The Hidden Birthmark
At Rose Manor, the butler investigates Kate's background and tells his master that the young woman is merely a twenty-five-year-old worker, not the missing heiress. His master looks at a childhood photograph in her desk drawer, troubled by the striking resemblance. She walks into the guest bedroom where Kate sleeps. Kate shifts on the pillow, revealing the skin behind her ear. A red birthmark shows clearly. The master leans down, parts Kate's hair, and recognizes the unique mark Mary carried a thousand years ago.
