Sophia stands by her study window at night, whispering Mary's name. William enters and delivers his background report on Kate. He claims Kate is an ordinary working woman, not Mary. Sophia protests the exact physical resemblance. After William leaves, Sophia looks at an old childhood photo in her desk. She goes to the bedroom to check on Kate. When Kate stirs, Sophia spots a red birthmark behind her ear and inspects it closely.
Sophia gazes out the study window into the night, murmuring Mary's name. William walks in with his investigation results. He states that Kate is twenty-five, works to support her family, and is not the person Sophia has sought.
William walks out of the study. Sophia pulls open her desk drawer and picks up an old childhood photograph. She stares at the image and wonders aloud if she has mistaken another stranger for Mary once again.
Sophia walks into the bedroom where Kate lies asleep. She gently touches Kate's forehead. Kate shifts in bed, uncovering a red birthmark behind her ear. The sight triggers Sophia's memory of Mary displaying her own identical mark.
Sophia steps closer and leans over the bed to examine the skin behind Kate's ear. She parts Kate's hair to confirm the red mark. Sophia stares at the sleeping woman with wide eyes as the realization hits her.
“She... isn't the person you're looking for.”
“That's impossible! She looks exactly like Mary!”
“It's a mark that belongs only to me.”
Sophia leans over Kate's sleeping figure and parts her hair to inspect the red mark. The birthmark behind Kate's ear matches Mary's unique sign from a thousand years ago. Sophia freezes in total shock. Will Sophia confront Kate about her past life when she wakes, or will William's report keep her questioning what she saw?
