I just finished watching the available episodes of He's Not A Spare Son, and the family drama hits immediately. The story follows Dustin Curran, the biological son of Logan Curran and Mary Blake. His parents cast him aside right after birth, sending him off to live with his grandfather in the countryside while showering all their affection on an adopted son, Nate Curran. When Dustin returned after his grandfather passed away, they shoved him out again to Clearwind Sect. For fifteen years, he trained on the mountain under Master Jade.
His parents only reach out when they want something. The Curran family arranged an alliance with the Collins family, one of the Big Four in Lorien. The heiress, Linda Collins, is in a wheelchair and terminally ill. Nate refuses to marry someone he considers a burden. Because of that, the parents summon Dustin home to take Nate's spot as a live-in widower. They expect him to obey like an unwanted spare part, but Dustin has developed incredible cultivation skills and top-tier medical abilities during his years away.
What makes this short drama fun to watch is Dustin's refusal to be pushed around. He does not take the Curran family's insults lying down. He slaps his hypocritical brother, knocks out elite bodyguards with a stomp of his foot, and blackmails his father for cash just to attend a party.
