Clara carries Maya down the hall and hears Leo dismiss Maya's tears as an act. Inside the study, Julian joins a video call with his parents, Eleanor, and the family lawyer. They disparage Clara's background and propose an evaluation of her fitness to manage the trust. Standing outside, Clara listens in tears. After Maya says Julian only cares about Leo, Clara decides to leave Julian and take Maya with her.
Clara carries Maya down the corridor toward her bedroom. Through the open door, Leo tells Julian that Maya was faking her tears to manipulate him. Julian tells his son to leave Clara alone for a little while.
Julian logs into a video conference with his parents, Eleanor, and their family lawyer. His parents attack Clara's background. Eleanor pretends to care while questioning Clara's loyalty. The lawyer recommends a temporary evaluation of Clara's emotional fitness for the trust.
Clara stands outside listening as tears run down her face. Maya apologizes for asking about summer camp and says Julian only loves Leo. Clara hugs her daughter, agrees to leave Julian behind, and walks toward the exit.
“Julian, I told you long ago, she carries too much emotion and isn't suited to touch family assets.”
“Julian, if the current emotional state of the co-manager may affect judgment, then for the security of the trust, we can indeed initiate a temporary evaluation procedure.”
“Dad only protects Leo, he doesn't like me.”
“OK, then we don't want Dad. The two of us will go.”
Clara holds Maya tightly and walks away down the hallway. She has decided to end her marriage to Julian and cut ties with the Westwood family. But how will Julian react when he realizes his wife is no longer waiting outside his door to beg for trust access?
