Flashbacks display Ella supporting Lisa throughout their college years. Ella shares meals with Lisa, leaps into a swimming pool to rescue her from hostile bullies, and gives a card to a knife-wielding loan shark to clear Lisa's father's gambling debt.
Lisa orders the two colleagues to apologize to Ella. Ella remembers their past bond and decides to protect Lisa from any workplace issues. Lisa speaks in a sweet voice and asks Ella to shut her eyes for a special reunion gift.
Ella closes her eyes as requested. Lisa smiles coldly, takes a full mug of coffee, and pours the liquid directly over Ella's head. The liquid runs down Ella's hair and clothes while Lisa and the two coworkers look on.
“She was my best friend.”
“Close your eyes. I have a little surprise for you for our reunion.”
“Ella, do you like my surprise?”
Ella stands in the breakroom soaked in coffee. She looks at Lisa with quiet fury and shock. Lisa and the two coworkers stand beside her, smiling smugly at the trap they just sprang. How will Ella respond to this betrayal from the friend she repeatedly saved in college?
