Alexander and Elena enter the gala ballroom hand in hand. A woman in a dark velvet dress steps up and insults Elena in front of the crowd. Elena immediately retaliates by playing a secret phone recording of the woman discussing stolen charity funds with Mr. Hollis. Security holds the furious woman back. Alexander praises Elena for anticipating the confrontation. He asks her to dance and pulls her close across the floor.
Alexander and Elena arrive together holding hands. A woman in a velvet dress calls Elena a secondhand scandal. Elena fires back and plays a hidden phone recording exposing the rival's charity embezzlement. Security restrains the furious woman as she lunges forward.
Alexander commends Elena for hiding a recording device and outsmarting her enemy before anyone could strike. Elena states she decided to stand tall on her own tonight. Alexander listens to her words and asks her to join him for a dance.
Alexander leads Elena onto the ballroom floor for a slow dance while her rival watches in fury. He pulls her tight against his chest, telling her that while he provided the stage, she achieved this entire victory herself.
“Alexander, you do enjoy surprises. I just didn't expect your surprise would be secondhand scandal.”
“Should I play the part where you told Mr Hollis to bury the missing funds before tonight?”
“Dance with me.”
“You had a stage, the rest was you.”
Alexander pulls Elena tight against his chest on the ballroom dance floor and looks straight into her eyes. They slow dance together while their humiliated rival seethes on the sidelines.
