Caleb opens the car door for Audrey outside a banquet and warns her about the guests. Audrey calmly states she is only doing her duty. Inside the hall, Richard introduces Caleb's former fiancée, Victoria. Caleb pulls Richard away to talk to investors. On the terrace, Victoria mocks Audrey, but Audrey refuses to compromise. During the car ride home, Caleb questions her old bag and sincerely apologizes for past neglect.
Caleb steps outside and opens the car door for Audrey. He tells her that the crowd inside will not act kindly toward her. Audrey remains calm. She answers that she attended only to fulfill her required duties as his assistant and wife.
Richard walks up to Audrey and Caleb with Caleb's former fiancée, Victoria. Richard introduces the women to each other. Caleb intervenes quickly, making up an excuse about meeting investors so he can steer Richard away from the conversation.
Victoria approaches Audrey outside on the manor terrace. She mocks Audrey for thinking simple sincerity works in high society. Audrey pushes back immediately, stating she would rather walk away than change who she is to follow their rules.
In the moving car, Caleb asks Audrey why she carries an old purse and notes the guests judged her. Audrey confronts him over his past behavior. Caleb drops his guard, admits he was wrong, and offers a sincere apology.
“Because you honestly believe sincerity is enough. You think you can survive in this world without fighting for your place.”
“If staying here means becoming someone else just to follow your rules, then I'd rather walk away.”
“I was wrong. I just didn't know how else to take care of someone.”
Audrey hears Caleb's unexpected apology and turns her head toward the car window. His quiet admission of past failures leaves her visibly shaken inside. Neither of them speaks, and the car fills with heavy, contemplative silence. Will Caleb's newfound honesty change Audrey's mind about their upcoming divorce, or will the divide between their worlds keep them apart?
