Episode: 2
On the Drayton Academy baseball field, students tie Anna Kowalski to a chair and pelt baseballs at her. Bystanders get chased away. A memory reveals Anna draping her coat over Elias Thorne's bloody body after his fall. In the present, a blonde girl forces a paper towel into Anna's head injury to coerce a false confession. Anna rejects the lie. A long-haired boy swings a bat, but Dean catches it.
Male students tie Anna Kowalski to a chair on the academy baseball field. A curly blonde boy throws baseballs directly at her. When other students stop to watch, the bullies intimidate them and force them to leave.
A flashback shows Elias Thorne dead on the pavement in a pool of blood. Students stand around mocking his corpse. Anna steps forward and lays her jacket over Elias, ignoring the cruel laughter and insults from the bullies.
Back on the field, a blonde female bully roughly presses a paper towel against Anna's bleeding head. She orders Anna to say Elias tried to rape her and that Anna pushed him off the roof in self-defense.
Anna speaks up and tells the bullies they drove Elias to his death. The blonde girl decides she cannot help Anna. She steps back and gives permission to a long-haired male bully to swing his bat at Anna.
The long-haired student swings the baseball bat straight toward Anna's head with full power. Dean suddenly steps into the line of fire. He catches the swinging metal bat with his bare hand inches away from Anna's face.
“Tell everyone. Elias Thorne tried to rape you, and you pushed him off the roof in a panic.”
“You're lying! You... You're the ones who drove him to death!”
“Fine. Guess I can't save you either.”
Dean Vance intercepts the baseball bat with his bare hand, stopping the lethal blow right before it hits Anna's head. The students stare in shock at the new gym teacher who intervened. Will Dean punish the bullies right here on the field, and will Anna finally feel safe enough to tell him the truth about Elias?
