Episode: 6
The robot warns Mara Vance that oxygen levels are dropping. Mara watches small creatures swell in a three-beat breathing rhythm, which causes nearby plant bracts to unfold. Soon, giant buds open in spreading rings across the plain, making the robot's blue sample container float. The earth suddenly rips apart into a massive fissure. Writhing muscle tissue appears beneath the soil as the entire hill shakes and lifts into the air.
The robot reports that oxygen has dropped below safe limits. Mara Vance studies small creatures expanding as they breathe nearby. She notices their rhythm of two light breaths and one heavy breath, which triggers the surrounding plant bracts to bloom.
A massive flower bud opens layer by layer before them. The blue sample container held by the robot suddenly gains buoyancy. Rings of light spread across the plain as every flower bud unfolds at the exact same moment.
A giant fissure tears through the plain, exposing writhing muscle tissue underneath the soil. The hill heaves upward and shakes beneath them. Mara Vance recognizes that the surface they walked on is actually an immense living creature.

The entire hill rises from the ground like a giant sleeping beast waking up. The slope tilts violently, causing Mara Vance and her robot companion to lose their footing. Both of them slide down the steep, shifting surface. Will they find something to grab onto before they tumble into the open fissure?
