Episode: 9
In a flashback, a guard intercepts Lila as she gathers herbs for Kyle. The guard prepares to whip her at the execution post, but Kyle shields her and takes the lash. Using pure strength, Kyle breaks an iron shackle and warns the man never to touch her, forcing the guard to back away. Lila cries and scolds Kyle for stepping in. Later, Varic gives Kyle food and tells him to follow him tomorrow.
A flashback shows Lila sneaking through the slave camp doorway to gather herbs for Kyle. A guard catches her with the stolen medicine in her hands. He grabs her and threatens to kill her on the spot.
At the execution post, the guard raises his whip against Lila. Kyle shields her with his back, taking the lash instead. He snaps an iron shackle off using raw power, orders the guard away, and watches the terrified overseer retreat.
Lila weeps while holding onto the bloodstained post. She reprimands Kyle for endangering himself. Kyle tells her not to waste healing herbs on a dead man. Lila snaps back, telling him to stop dying if he wants her to quit.
Varic walks up to Kyle in a desolate part of the camp. The blind elder shares his food with him. He asks Kyle whether he wants to live or win. After Kyle answers, Varic tells him to follow him tomorrow.
“Whip me instead. I'm used to it. One ring today. Touch her again and count the rest.”
“Then stop dying.”
“Tell me boy, do you want to live, or do you want to win?”
“Both.”
“Then follow me tomorrow night and say goodbye to that pillar.”
Varic hands Kyle food in the desolate yard and asks if he wants survival or victory. Kyle tells him he wants both. Varic tells Kyle to follow him the next night and leave the execution pillar behind forever. Can Kyle trust this blind prisoner, and what does Varic plan to do once night falls?
