A television news broadcast reports that Evelyn Hart has been missing for six weeks, displaying footage of her father Robert. Reborn as the white cat Opal, Evelyn touches the television screen with her paw and laments that she is right there.
In the dining room, Nathan and Vivian discuss forging Evelyn's signature because her father Robert refuses to sign the paperwork. Nathan announces that his next business target is Claire Whitmore and her family's shipping ports.
Claire Whitmore arrives outside the mansion in a car. She remembers Maya warning her that Nathan secretly bought her company's debt through a shell firm to manipulate her family. Claire then walks inside the house to investigate Nathan's actions.
In a bedroom, Nathan pitches an offer to Claire and pretends to mourn Evelyn's disappearance before walking out. Left alone, Claire searches the room and discovers a jewelry box containing Evelyn's engagement ring, which is engraved with 'E. & H.'.
While Claire holds the jewelry, Opal speaks directly to her, demanding that she put it down. A shocked Claire drops the ring onto the floor and asks who spoke as a bright glowing light suddenly appears around the cat.
“You mean the one you forged?”
“Claire Whitmore arrives tonight. Her family's ports are next.”
“Nathan bought our debt through a shell company. Then he offered your father a rescue.”
“That's mine. Put it down.”
Claire stands frozen in the bedroom after dropping Evelyn's engraved ring onto the floor. She demands to know who just spoke to her, staring directly at the white cat as a bright glowing light surrounds it. Will Claire realize that Opal carries Evelyn's human spirit, or will Nathan return to the room before the truth comes out?
