Episode: 3
Claire Whitmore finds Opal guarding a jewelry box inside the bedroom. The cat speaks, telling Claire to stay quiet, and knocks twice on the box as requested. Nathan appears at the door to press an engagement ring into Claire's hands. After he departs, Opal claims to be Evelyn Hart. Claire steps out to phone a friend about the voice, while Nathan hides behind glass, recording the call on his phone.
Claire enters the bedroom and sees Opal sitting beside the jewelry box. The white cat speaks and tells her not to scream. Claire asks Opal to knock on the box twice. Opal responds by hitting the box two times.
Nathan knocks on the bedroom door to ask what happened. Claire picks up the white cat before turning the handle. Nathan gives her the ring, claiming she will soon be his bride and that the press will love it.
With Nathan gone, Claire carries Opal toward the window. She questions who is really inside the cat's body. The animal says Evelyn Hart aloud. Claire tells her to deliver private, unsearchable details by tomorrow to verify the claim.
Claire steps outside to phone her contact, explaining that she just heard Evelyn speaking. The woman on the line warns her to keep the records safe and avoid Nathan. Meanwhile, Nathan quietly records Claire using his phone.
“If that's you, touch the box twice.”
“Keep the ring. The press will like seeing our families together.”
“Evelyn Hart.”
“Prove it. Tomorrow. Something I can't find online.”
Claire finishes her call on the terrace, completely unaware of Nathan standing in the shadows behind her. He holds his phone up to the window glass, recording her conversation and tracking her movements. Can Claire protect her secret alliance with Evelyn before Nathan figures out what she is hiding?
