Wen Yu arrives home to find Jiang Yanli waiting with a gift from Paris. He claims he met a pregnant friend outside work purely by chance and gave her a ride, denying fathering the baby. When an urgent message calls him away, Wen Yu asks him to sign real estate papers. He signs without reading. Alone on the couch, Wen Yu cradles her belly beside the divorce agreement.
Wen Yu enters the apartment after work. Jiang Yanli hands her a present brought back from Paris. He claims that he ran into a pregnant acquaintance outside the airline by chance, drove her to the hospital, and shares no ties to the baby.
Jiang Yanli checks a new notification on his phone and claims he has an emergency meeting at the airline. Before he walks out the door, Wen Yu stops him and presents paperwork, telling him she wants to purchase a Riverview flat.
Jiang Yanli pens his signature across the documents without reviewing them. After placing a quick kiss on Wen Yu's forehead, he exits the apartment. The signed sheets left on the table are an agreement for divorce rather than real estate paperwork.
Wen Yu sits alone on the sofa holding the paperwork Jiang Yanli just signed. She rests her hand against her belly. Looking down, she speaks directly to her unborn baby and offers an apology for the home she is leaving behind.
