Martin Corleone and Eleanor Corleone expect Serena to select Finn as her husband. Serena remembers Finn shooting her in her previous life and rejects him at the altar. She chooses chief enforcer Hawk instead. Martin agrees to name Hawk but delays the announcement for seven days. Outside, Finn assumes he was chosen and orders Serena to buy Lily an apology gift. Serena walks past Finn and grabs Hawk by his collar.
Inside the family cathedral, Martin Corleone and Eleanor Corleone talk about Serena Corleone choosing a husband. They assume she will pick Finn. Serena remembers Finn shooting and burning her alive after she funded his career. She vows to make him pay.
Martin Corleone holds the signet ring to name Finn, but Serena interrupts him. She announces Hawk as her chosen partner. Her parents question Hawk's injured left hand. Serena defends his service, and Martin delays the public announcement for seven days.
The announcer informs the gathering that Serena Corleone has chosen her future husband from the candidates. Serena walks down the cathedral aisle. She focuses on stripping Finn of his authority and making sure he receives no power from her family.
Courtyard onlookers assume Finn won Serena Corleone's hand. Finn confronts Serena outside with an arrogant smirk. He orders her to purchase an expensive apology gift for his cousin Lily Mason. He also tells her to wait outside so people will not gossip.
Serena Corleone ignores Finn's orders and insults him directly on the cathedral steps. She brushes past him without hesitation. Serena pulls Hawk close by his collar right in front of Finn, leaving Finn standing on the steps in complete shock.
“Dad, I'm not choosing Finn. I'm choosing Hawk.”
“What if his hand is disabled? He lost it serving the family. Who dares mock him?”
“Hold off on announcing your fiancé until the formal engagement in seven days. That man will be our new second in command.”
“Did you even think about Lily? Go prepare a nice gift and apologize to her right now.”
Serena pulls Hawk close by his collar on the cathedral steps and openly mocks Finn. Finn stands stunned, still believing he won the heiress's hand and family power.
