Lynn compliments Lily on her polite habits and introduces herself in the elevator. After Lily mentions that no business wants to hire her, Lynn asks her to stop by tomorrow at three in the afternoon. Back in her small partitioned room, video game gunfire sounds through the wall. Her mother calls to demand she take the civil service exam back home, but Lily asks for more time.
Lynn introduces herself and mentions Lily's polite manners inside the elevator. When Lily explains that no employer wants her, Lynn tells her to drop by anyway. Lynn invites her to meet by the elevator at three tomorrow afternoon to talk.
Lily walks back into her cramped, rundown partitioned room. As she steps inside, loud gunshots from a neighbor's video game blast through the thin wall. Lily stands alone in the noisy, small space after her long day.
Lily's mother calls on the phone to ask how the interview went. She tells Lily to move back to their hometown and take the civil service exam. Lily pleads with her mother for more time so she can keep trying.
Lily ends the phone call with her mother. She sits quietly in the dilapidated room without speaking a word. Above her, she stares at a water leak on the ceiling that looks like the shape of a rabbit.
“Then just come anyway. I mop here every day at 3 in the afternoon.”
“Lily how did the interview go”
“Mom I want to keep trying a little longer”
Lily finishes the tense phone call with her mother and cuts the connection. She quietly looks up at a water stain on the ceiling that resembles a rabbit. Will Lily actually return to the office building tomorrow at three in the afternoon to visit Lynn, or will she give up on the city?
