Kevin calls Lily and schedules her interview for ten tomorrow morning on the thirty-second floor. After hanging up, Lily crouches in the hallway and cries tears of relief while her gaming neighbor peers out. Inside her room, she texts Lynn, who sends back a warm voice message. Lily arrives thirty minutes early at AKG the next day. The receptionist leads her through the work area to Kevin's corner office.
Kevin confirms that Lily is on the line. He informs her that she needs to come to the thirty-second floor at ten o'clock tomorrow morning for an interview. Lily listens on the other end of the phone call.
Lily hangs up the phone and alternates between laughing and crying. She squats in the hallway and holds her head while weeping. Her neighbor in room four opens his door, watches her briefly, and then shuts it.
In her room, Lily sends a text to confirm with Lynn. Lynn replies with a voice message, praising Lily for helping with afternoon chores and staying polite. She advises Lily to stay calm and give the interview a try.
Lily reaches the AKG building at nine-thirty the next morning, thirty minutes ahead of schedule, wearing neat clothes. The receptionist greets her in the lobby and escorts her through the busy open office area toward a corner room.
Lily walks inside the office for her scheduled appointment. Kevin sits behind his desk and looks directly at her with a sharp, serious expression. Lily stands before her interviewer to begin the conversation.
“10 a m 32nd floor”
“You come help me work every afternoon and you're always polite. You're way more reliable than all those stuck up young people coming for interviews.”
“Just go give it a shot. If it doesn't work out no hard feelings.”
The receptionist leads Lily into the corner office to face Kevin. He sits behind his desk and fixes her with a sharp, serious stare. Lily stands before him, worried about letting Lynn down. Will Kevin conduct a harsh evaluation, or can Lily live up to Lynn's high recommendation?
