Episode: 9
Chase catches a flying vase before it hits Arya outside a bedroom. A scratched maid crawls out and quits, screaming that Stella Vance is out of her mind. Chase offers Arya a one-day trial: put Stella to sleep tonight or leave the manor. A blonde woman warns Arya that Stella will snap her neck. Arya enters the trashed bedroom, pieces together a torn photo, and turns as Stella violently lunges at her.
Arya stands in the hallway when a vase suddenly flies out from the bedroom door. Chase reacts quickly and intercepts the vase right in front of Arya's face. He turns to her and states that she still needs to prove herself.
Loud shrieks echo from inside the room. A bruised and scratched maid crawls out into the hallway on her hands and knees. Terrified, she shouts that she quits, calls Miss Stella a monster, and flees down the corridor immediately.
Chase gives Arya a badge and outlines her one-day trial. She must put Miss Stella to sleep quietly tonight to keep her position, or take a single day of pay and leave. Arya agrees to the terms, and Richard unlocks the door.
The blonde woman crosses her arms and mocks Arya, telling her that Stella will snap her neck within ten minutes. Arya ignores the taunt. Keeping Annie's medical expenses in mind, she steps through the doorway and enters the dangerous room.
Arya navigates past broken glass and fallen debris across the floor. At the vanity, she picks up and aligns the pieces of a ripped photo of Stella. In the cracked mirror, Stella suddenly materializes in red clothes and screams as she attacks.
“You're not leaving over an injury. You should still prove yourself.”
“Sir, I quit! I can't do this anymore! She's a monster! Miss Stella lost her mind!”
“Your probation is one day. If you can't get Miss Stella to sleep quietly tonight, I'll pay you for the day and you'll leave the Vances.”
“Stella's out of her mind right now. She'll snap your neck in ten minutes.”
Arya stands alone inside the wrecked bedroom, assembling a shredded photograph at the vanity. A reflection in the broken mirror reveals Stella Vance clad in red right behind her. Stella shrieks and charges forward violently at Arya. Can Arya defend herself against Stella's sudden assault and find a way to soothe her before the night is over?
