Dad receives an urgent phone call about a warehouse emergency and leaves right away without checking Stella's room. Mom takes Emma out for a shopping trip. When they return that evening carrying bags, a repulsive rotting smell fills the hallway. Mom angrily blames Stella for making a mess. She gets heavy tape and seals every crack around the bedroom door. Stella's ghost watches from inside, loses all hope, and lies beside her body.
Dad gets an urgent phone call from his boss about a warehouse problem. He tells his wife he must leave right away and might be gone for days. He walks out the front door without opening Stella's bedroom.
Mom takes Emma out on a shopping trip for the day. That evening, the two return home carrying full shopping bags. As soon as they enter the front hallway, a terrible rotting smell hits them from Stella's closed bedroom.
Disgusted by the smell, Mom shouts at the closed room and accuses Stella of creating filth. Instead of checking inside, Mom grabs a roll of heavy tape. She seals all the cracks around Stella's door frame shut from the hallway.
Stella's ghost stands in the bedroom and watches the edges of her door get taped shut. Realizing her mother will never open it, she lets go of her hope. She walks to the bed and lies down beside her lifeless body.
“Honey, work emergency. I have to go. Might not be back for a few days.”
“Stella, are you trying to turn this house into a dump?”
“There. Peace and quiet.”
“You win, Mom. I won't bother you anymore.”
With the bedroom door completely sealed with heavy tape, Stella's spirit gives up and lies down next to her remains on the bed. Mom walks away satisfied with the quiet. How long can the family ignore what happened now that Stella's room is sealed off from the rest of the house?
