Episode: 7
Visitors admire artwork at Shaw Gallery while Evelyn finishes preparations backstage with Julian Shaw. Marcus Whitman arrives and demands an immediate meeting with E.M. Vale. When Evelyn sees Marcus through the curtain, fear of him discovering her pregnancy drives her to run. She drops her mask along the hallway. Julian blocks Marcus from chasing her, giving Evelyn time to escape into a taxi.
Visitors browse the artwork inside the gallery hall while Evelyn and Julian Shaw get ready backstage. Outside, Marcus Whitman arrives with his assistant. He ignores the policy about private buyers and insists on confronting the artist directly.
Evelyn glances through the backstage curtain and spots Marcus Whitman. Terrified that he will see her pregnant belly, she turns and runs down the rear corridor. In her rush to escape, her masquerade mask slips from her hands and hits the floor.
Marcus Whitman reaches the hallway and picks up the dropped mask from the floor. Before he can run after her, Julian Shaw steps directly into his path. Julian denies knowing who Marcus is searching for and blocks him from following Evelyn.
Evelyn climbs into the backseat of a taxi outside on the rain-soaked street. Rain streams down the car window as she cries. She holds herself tight and vows never to look back, determined to protect her unborn twins from him.
“I'm not a buyer.”
“I'm afraid of him seeing the children.”
“No one here by that name.”
“Then how do you know who I'm looking for?”
Evelyn rides away in a taxi through the dark London rain, weeping as she clutches her stomach. Outside the gallery, Marcus Whitman remains stranded on the sidewalk holding her discarded mask. Will Marcus figure out that Julian Shaw is hiding Evelyn, or can she stay hidden in the city before he tracks her down?
