Kane orders the recruits and the captain to turn around and face away from him. He threatens to gouge their eyes out if they look. He commands Jack to strip off his shirt. Kane runs his gloved fingers over Jack’s bare chest and chest, noticing his rapid heartbeat. After Jack speaks about the public setting, Kane pulls him close. Kane asks if they have met, receives a denial, and orders Jack to dress.
Kane orders the captain and the recruits to turn their backs. He threatens to gouge out the eyes of anyone who turns around to watch. The captain follows the order immediately. Kane then directs Jack to remove his shirt.
Jack takes off his tank top. Kane touches Jack's chest and stomach with his gloved hand. He notes that Jack's heart is beating fast. Jack tells him he is not used to being touched by a man in public.
Kane pulls Jack close and asks if they have met in the past. Jack says no. Kane tells Jack to get dressed. He instructs Jack that he now belongs only to him and answers to no other person.
“All of you, about-face! Anyone who looks back, I'll gouge their eyes out myself!”
“Follow orders, Private. Or do you want me to undress you myself?”
“I'm just... not used to being felt up by a guy in public.”
“Good. Get dressed. Remember, you're my soldier now. You answer only to me, no one else.”
Kane finishes the inspection and tells Jack he is his soldier. He warns Jack that he answers to no one else. Kane stares at his own hand after touching Jack. The episode closes with this intense interaction, leaving the viewer to wonder how Kane will exercise this claim over Jack in future training sessions.
