You Shattered My Dreams, Now Beg for Mercy Episode 2

Episode: 2

Episode 2 recap: Shut Out

Grandmother takes Xinyi around the village to beg for college tuition. Her eldest uncle coldly refuses and locks his courtyard gate. Other neighbors make quick excuses about boiling water or feeding pigs and run away. Zhao Zhiqiang and local men mock Xinyi along the dirt road, claiming education is a waste of money for a girl. Grandmother defends her fiercely. When they sit down in the courtyard, Xinyi spots a red, swollen blister on her grandmother's ankle. She weeps on her knees and promises to drop out of school.
