She rejects the money, so Rafael slices her steak instead. As Claire leaves for the hospital, Noah cries and bolts into the car. Rafael lets him accompany her, ordering guards to trail behind.
Rafael eats his morning meal at the dining table. He pushes a check for fifty thousand dollars across the table to Claire. He explains the money is her payment for reading a bedtime story to young Noah the night before.
In a flashback, Claire serves food to Preston and his family. She nervously asks Preston for twenty dollars to buy a replacement shirt. Preston scolds her harshly and snaps that nobody sees her because she never leaves the house.
Claire turns down the massive check. Rafael tells her that Noah's trust is worth far more than fifty thousand dollars. He pulls out a chair for her at the dining table and cuts up her steak for her to eat.
Claire leaves for a hospital visit and asks the butler to watch Noah. Noah weeps, fearing she will abandon him like his mother did. He runs into the vehicle. Rafael allows Noah to go, telling guards to follow discreetly.
“For last night. The bedtime story.”
“No, you're crazy. You barely leave the house, who's gonna see you?”
“Claire, don't leave me. No! No!”
“Let him go. It's the first time he's wanted to leave on his own. Have security follow them. Keep their distance.”
Noah sits firmly inside the vehicle, refusing to let Claire leave him behind. Rafael instructs his security detail to follow the car closely without being seen.
