Nathaniel walks down the hallway and calls Claire a nuisance. Inside the hospital room, Dylan offers Claire a blank check. Claire writes an eight-million-dollar check while crying. Nathaniel lets the check clear and spends his hours looking for his mystery pianist at his piano shop. Later, Dylan stops Claire outside a building with bruised eyes. He offers her his card and begs her to stay, but she rejects him and walks away.
Nathaniel walks away down the hallway, claiming Claire is only a nuisance. Claire sits alone in her hospital room and weeps. Dylan steps inside and hands her a blank check, telling her to fill in whatever number she wants.
Claire holds back her sobs and fills out the check for eight million dollars. Nathaniel stays away from her and searches for his mystery pianist at the piano shop. He approves the massive payment and lets the transaction clear.
Dylan approaches Claire on the street with bruises around his eyes. He hands her a card and begs her not to leave, confessing his love. Claire treats his pushy behavior as a nuisance, asks who he thinks he is, and leaves.
“Write any amount. I didn't mean what I said. I didn't realize my brother disliked you so much...”
“If money can make you stay, I'll give you everything I have. Okay? You might not believe me, but I've really fallen in love with you.”
“Who exactly do you think you are?”
Claire completely turns her back on Dylan's desperate plea. She refuses his card, asks him who he thinks he is, and leaves him standing alone outside with his bruised eyes. With eight million dollars cleared and Claire walking away from both brothers, will Nathaniel ever discover that Claire is the mystery pianist he seeks?
