Dominic walks into his study, and Elodie follows him inside. She asks if he plans to marry someone else. Dominic admits it and mocks her for worrying about money. When Elodie offers stiff congratulations, Dominic grabs her against the bookshelf and kisses her. Elodie shoves him off. Dominic grabs a thick stack of cash to pay for her submission, but Elodie answers his insult by slapping him across the face.
Dominic strides down the hallway of the mansion without acknowledging Elodie. He heads directly into his study to take care of business, while Elodie watches him pass and prepares to follow him into the room.
Elodie follows Dominic into the study and asks about his wedding plans. Dominic confirms the news and asks if she fears losing her cash source. Elodie stays calm, congratulates him, and states she knows her boundaries.
Dominic suddenly seizes Elodie and bends her backward. He dares her to say she does not desire him anymore. Before she can give an answer, Dominic pulls her toward the bookshelf and kisses her with force.
Elodie pushes Dominic away with both hands. Dominic reaches into a briefcase, pulls out a stack of hundred-dollar bills, and waves it in her face. Disgusted by the cash offer, Elodie slaps his cheek with all her strength.
“You're getting engaged?”
“Tell me you don't want me. Just say it, Elodie Hale. See how I would react.”
“Reject me, huh? Is this enough?”
“You asshole, Dominic!”
Elodie strikes Dominic across the cheek, furious that he treated her like a prostitute with a stack of cash. Dominic stands in his study touching his stinging face in utter disbelief at her defiance. Will Dominic retaliate against Elodie for raising a hand against him, or will Elodie walk away from the mansion for good?
