Episode: 2
Two maids talk about Miles throwing stones at Elliot's window. Thomas scolds them for gossiping. Catherine Ashford checks on her son's condition. She permits Miles's antics if they provoke Elliot. Inside his room, Elliot forces Thomas to give Miles a three-million-dollar cheque to fire him. Miles happily accepts the cash and heads out. In the corridor, Catherine stops Miles and brings him into a study with a family photo.
Two maids chat in the grand foyer about Miles carrying Elliot outside and tossing pebbles at his window. Thomas catches them slacking off on the job. He scolds them firmly and tells them to get back to work.
Catherine Ashford meets Thomas on the staircase and asks about Elliot. Thomas reports that Miles threw pebbles at the window to provoke him. Catherine approves of the methods as long as they draw feelings from her son.
Miles enters Elliot's room with a bright greeting. Elliot refuses to look at him and makes Thomas hand over a three-million-dollar cheque. He gives Miles three minutes to pack. Miles cheerfully pockets the money, bows, and walks out.
Catherine Ashford stops Miles in the hallway as he leaves with the cheque. She leads him into another room for a private talk. Inside, Miles spots a framed picture of a young Elliot holding a trophy beside his father.
“As long as he can get a reaction out of Elliot, he may do whatever he likes.”
“Here is a check for $3 million. Take it. You have 3 minutes to pack your things and get off the Ashford Estate.”
“Blow me. $3 million. I've never seen this many zeros in my life.”
“Mr Carter a word before you go.”
Miles enters the room with Catherine Ashford after taking the dismissal cheque. He notices a framed photograph of a younger Elliot smiling beside his late father with a trophy. Catherine clearly has a proposal for the bodyguard before he walks away. Will Catherine convince Miles to stay and push Elliot, or will he walk away with the money?
