Catherine Ashford tells Miles Carter about the car crash that caused Elliot Ashford's condition and offers him three million dollars to remain. Miles tears up the check and vows to collect payment only when Elliot stands again. He returns to Elliot's room and drops the paper scraps over his head. When Elliot refuses to eat, Miles eats fast food into a microphone, forces food past Elliot's lips, and threatens him.
Catherine Ashford studies a family photograph and describes how a deadly car accident caused Elliot's psychological paralysis. She presents Miles with a three-million-dollar offer. Miles rips the paper apart and declares he will take payment only after Elliot walks again.
Elliot demands to know why the bodyguard remains after taking the payout. Miles showers Elliot's head with the shredded check pieces, jokes about the weather, and refuses to leave. Elliot loses his temper and screams at Miles to get out.
Seeing Elliot refuse meals, Miles puts on a microphone and loudly chews fast food beside him. Elliot still will not eat. Miles forces Elliot's jaw open, jams food inside, and leans close to issue a blunt threat.
“3 million dollars isn't enough to buy his future. Stay and name your terms.”
“You can pay me the $3 million when the job's done.”
“Get out!”
“If you do, I'll feed it back to you mouth to mouth.”
Miles holds Elliot's jaw, stuffs fast food between his teeth, and leans in close to warn him against spitting it out. Outside the estate, Elliot's enraged shout echoes into the distance. Will Miles break Elliot's stubborn hunger strike with these extreme methods, or will Elliot find a way to expel his aggressive new caretaker from the mansion?
