At three in the morning, Silas Bennett rushes through the front door dressed in a jacket matching Elena's. He angrily challenges Clara Hayes regarding her online comment. Clara confronts him with evidence of the hiking trip, recounting his past abandonment during an emergency before breaking up. Silas cruelly insults her family background. Clara stands by her decision, and Elena suddenly bursts inside.
Silas Bennett rushes into the house at three in the morning. He wears a hiking jacket identical to Elena's. Seeing the jacket triggers Clara Hayes's memories about where the clothing came from.
A flashback shows a clothing store and hallway. Elena claimed she gifted Silas a jacket only because of a two-for-one discount. At the time, Clara never realized the two friends were wearing matching couple jackets.
Silas demands an explanation for Clara's comment. Clara produces photos of his trip with Elena. She reminds Silas that he ignored her plea for help during a late-night street attack before announcing their breakup.
Silas mocks Clara about her deceased mother and alcoholic father before offering an insincere apology. Clara recalls seventeen-year-old Silas shielding her from a knife and promising love at her mother's grave.
Silas asks if Clara truly wants to end their relationship over a single hike. Clara confirms she is leaving him for good. Right as she speaks, Elena bursts through the front door.
“Why'd you leave that comment? Elena made me leave work and come home. Can't you give us a break?”
“Silas, we're done.”
“Clara, you're so naive. Your mother's dead, your father's a drunk, who else would dare marry you?”
“Yes. Because I'm leaving.”
Silas asks Clara if she is throwing away their entire relationship over a hiking trip. Clara looks at him and confirms she is leaving. Before Silas can reply, the front door swings open and Elena bursts inside the room. Will Elena try to defend their secret trip, or will she make another excuse to keep Clara and Silas together?
