Fast-forward five years. Emily returns to the city as a world-famous surgeon and neurosurgeon, and she is not alone. Beside her is a bright, sharp-tongued little boy who looks strikingly familiar to anyone paying attention. At the airport, an accidental encounter brings her face-to-face with Mr. Hawthorn, the wealthy head of the city's top family. EP 2: Cast Out in the Rain
Crying out on the wet street outside Bluebird Motel, the pregnant Carter heiress crawls toward her stepmother, begging to save her child. Her stepmother shows no mercy. She crushes the heiress's hand under her high heel and declares that her real mother died long ago. The half-sister gloats that all Carter assets belong to them now. Henchmen carry out the stepmother's command to beat the woman and dump her on the pavement. Bleeding in the rain, she swears to take everything back.
EP 3: Airport Encounter
Five years later, Professor Carter returns from abroad with her young son, Leo. Outside the airport, Mr. Hawthorn arrives with his assistant, who mentions that Professor Carter can save a patient through surgery. Leo drops a lollipop on the crosswalk. Mr. Hawthorn picks it up, and the boy gives it to him as a gift. When Emily takes off her sunglasses, she recognizes Mr. Hawthorn from that fateful night. After she walks away, the assistant gets a hospital call and notices that the boy looks identical to Mr. Hawthorn.
EP 4: Trouble in the Hallway
Emily brings Leo to Yuncheng Hospital, greeted by Dr. Bennett. Leo gets pocket money for snacks and walks down the hall eating chips. Inside an open room, he spots a nurse beating an elderly patient with a cleaning pole. Leo runs straight in to defend the old man. The furious nurse swings the pole toward the child. Instead of running, the elderly man pulls Leo into his arms, shielding him from the blow and calling the young boy Alexander.
EP 5: A Slap in the Clinic
The nurse shoves the boy into the hall and demands the elderly man crawl back to his room. Alexander brings his mother into the room, where she scolds the caregiver and helps the patient up. The nurse brags about her ties to the powerful Hawthorn family and tries to slap the doctor. Emily blocks her swing and slaps the nurse instead. Guards are summoned to throw the mother and child out, but a powerful voice halts them as the family CEO walks into the room.
EP 6: The Grandfather's Clue
Alexander Hawthorn enters with guards and orders the abusive nurse dragged to the ICC. Dr. Carter treats the grandfather with acupuncture. Once clear-headed, the elderly man notices Leo and insists the boy looks just like Alexander did in his youth. Leo asks if Alexander is his dad. Emily deflects by citing the grandfather's early Alzheimer's. Alexander invites them to his grandfather's upcoming birthday banquet, but he remains deeply suspicious about his grandfather's sudden reaction.
EP 7: Confrontation at the Gates
At the hospital, the grandfather tells Alexander to marry Dr. Carter, complaining about the woman who vanished years ago with the family's heirloom pendant. Emily arrives outside the Hawthorn banquet with Leo. The boy spots Alexander and runs ahead calling for his dad. Vanessa blocks Emily near the entrance, sneering at her presence. Emily refuses to back down. She brings up the night Vanessa and Ethan drugged and framed her, right as Ethan steps forward to face her.
EP 8: The Butler Intervenes
Ethan Blake and Emily's sister mock Emily outside the estate gates. Emily responds by slapping her sister. Ethan tries to strike back, but Butler Hawkins grabs Ethan's wrist. Hawkins announces that Emily is an honored guest of the Hawthorn family and escorts her inside. Once in the lobby, Ethan and the sister look for payback. Leo grabs a slice of cake and accidentally drops it onto the sister's sparkling shoes. Despite Leo's prompt apology, she slaps the young boy straight to the floor.
EP 9: Chaos in the Grand Hall
Leo tries to wipe the cake off Vanessa's shoes, but she kicks him to the ground. Emily rushes over, hugs her crying boy, and lands a hard slap on Vanessa's face. A man in a burgundy shirt catches Emily's arm and demands she apologize. Emily fires back, calling Vanessa a low-born bastard daughter. The man orders security to drag Emily out. Emily stands her ground with an unbothered smile while a man on the balcony above watches every move.
EP 10: The Heirloom Revealed
Emily insists Mr. Hawthorn personally invited her, yet Ethan and Stephanie Blackwell mock her. Guards hold Emily back while Ethan grabs Lucas by the neck and lifts him off the floor. As the child chokes, his shirt shifts to reveal a jade pendant. Watching from the balcony, Mr. Hawthorn's assistant spots the jewelry and identifies it as the Hawthorn family heirloom. Hearing the child's cries, Mr. Hawthorn roars for them to stop and races down the grand staircase.
EP 11: The CEO Steps In
Emily pulls the boy close, noticing his striking resemblance to the CEO, which brings back memories of that night five years ago. The CEO instructs guards to throw people out. Ethan and his partner assume the mother and child are leaving, but the CEO clarifies that the Blakes are banished for good. Emily warns them that this is only the start.
