Felix visits the Forest Arena to apply for a job as a healer. The announcer mocks him, and Felix denounces the tyrant Kane. When beasts chase him, Felix turns into a dog and flees into the woods. He discovers an injured beastkin and tends to his wounds while badmouthing Kane. Wolf guards arrive, bow down, and address the wounded stranger as Your Majesty. Kane grabs Felix and pulls him tight against his chest.
A challenger wins a match to become Kane's warrior. Felix approaches the arena master to apply as a healer instead. The crowd laughs at him. Felix condemns Kane for spreading violence, so the announcer sics beasts on him. Felix shifts and escapes.
Felix returns to his normal form and laments his lack of work. Following blood on a tree trunk, he spots an injured, shirtless beastkin against a boulder. Felix cleans his cuts while warning the man about Kane and voicing disgust for the tyrant.
Predators arrive, led by a black wolf. The wolf shifts into an armored soldier and kneels before the wounded male, calling him Your Majesty. Felix stares in shock as he realizes he healed Kane. Kane grabs Felix and pulls him into his arms.
“He will serve as a warrior of Kane, the Dark Beast King!”
“I'm here to apply as a healer...”
“Enough about Kane! He made violence the law of the land. He turned everyone savage and left the weak to die. I will never bow to him!”
“I didn't cross Kane. You crossed me.”
Felix stands frozen in disbelief after realizing the injured stranger he just treated and insulted is Kane. Kane seizes Felix's arm, drags him tight against his chest, and warns him that he has crossed the king. Will Kane punish Felix for his insolent words, or does the tyrant have another fate planned for the outspoken male healer?
