Episode: 3
Tess calms her furious grandfather, George, who wants to hunt down the man who marked her neck. Dr. Evelyn steps in and takes Tess to an exam room. Knox spots Tess and secretly follows them down the hall. Evelyn tends to Tess's neck and asks about her love life. Tess lies that she has a boyfriend. Knox overhears outside and assumes she sells herself for money. Evelyn insults the unknown lover right in front of Knox.
Mr. Miller threatens to kill the man who marked Tess's neck. Tess begs him to stay calm and rest. Dr. Evelyn enters the room, orders George to relax, and tells Tess to step outside with her.
Evelyn leads Tess down the hospital corridor. Knox notices Tess from a distance and wonders why she is at the hospital. He trails quietly behind the two women without letting them see him.
Evelyn cleans Tess's neck wound and asks if she has a boyfriend. Tess claims she does. Standing outside the door, Knox overhears her and thinks she cheated on her partner for money. Evelyn complains about her own son staying single.
Knox enters the room pretending to pick up medicine. Evelyn asks Tess whether the man used protection, calling him a shameless jerk when Tess admits he did not. Knox coughs in discomfort, and Tess leaves to check on George.
Evelyn scolds Knox for reaching age thirty without ever introducing a woman to the family. She urges him to secure a decent partner before none are left. Knox reacts by gesturing toward the door where Tess just walked out.
“She has a boyfriend? And she slept with me last night? She really will do anything for money.”
“Did he use protection?”
“What a bad man. If he cared about you, why would he ruin you like this? Is he trying to get you pregnant before marriage? What a shameless jerk.”
“Good girl? You mean her?”
Evelyn urges Knox to pursue a decent woman before all the good ones are taken. Knox smirks and points toward the doorway where Tess just departed, asking if his mother means her. Will Knox admit that he is the man his mother just called a shameless jerk, or will he keep investigating Tess in secret?
