Knox covers Tess with his coat inside the bar and orders his guards to remove the drunks. Ignoring her protests, he carries her outside to his red sports car and bandages her cut hand. When he asks about her boyfriend, Tess admits she made him up. Knox immediately offers another check if she stays with him tonight. Needing cash for her grandfather's surgery, Tess agrees, and Knox pulls her onto his lap.
Knox wraps his coat over Tess and asks how she is doing. The drunk troublemakers drop to their knees and plead for mercy. Knox ignores their begging and directs his bodyguards to take them away for good.
Tess thanks Knox and says she has to return to her shift. Knox checks her name tag, notices the cut on her hand, and lifts her into his arms. He carries her out the door despite her protests.
Knox places Tess in the passenger seat of his red sports car. He pulls out a first aid kit to clean the bleeding cut on her hand. Then he wraps her wound in bandages while she sits beside him.
Knox questions Tess about her boyfriend and asks where he is. Tess confesses that she invented the relationship because she feared Evelyn's questions about the mark on her neck. Knox hears the truth and suggests sleeping together again.
Tess insists that she needs to earn money for her grandfather's medical care. Knox offers to write her another check if she stays tonight. Tess accepts his terms, and Knox pulls her closer, ordering her to take control.
“Take them for a ride. Make sure they'll never come back.”
“I don't have a boyfriend. I just, I was scared Evelyn would ask about the hickey, so I made it up.”
“Stay with me tonight. I'll write you another check.”
“Get on. You do the work.”
Knox grabs Tess by the wrist and pulls her toward him inside the vehicle. He orders her to climb on top of him and take the lead. Tess freezes in shock and stares at him without moving. Will Tess actually follow through with his demand to save her sick grandfather?
