Episode: 5
Gavin Norlan casts a spell at Lucien Valewyn inside the tavern. Leah Ashburn steps in front of Lucien to shield him from the magic attack. The tavern keeper demands payment for their bill. Leah hands over her mother's pendant to pay the cost. A noblewoman and Gavin mock her choice. Leah defends Lucien as her husband before the gods. She takes Lucien and walks toward the exit.
Gavin Norlan prepares to attack Lucien Valewyn with magic. Leah Ashburn steps directly into the blast path to shield Lucien. She gives her mother's keepsake pendant to the tavern keeper for the bill. Leah ignores the noble crowd and walks out with Lucien.
“Gavin is an A-Class Mage. You're no match for him!”
“And now you pawn your mother's keepsake for a beggar?!”
“Yes. He's worth it.”
“He's just a useless beggar! You've only known him for two days, and you're doing all this for him?”
“He may not have the power or wealth like you. He may have nothing at all. But he is my husband, bound to me before the gods.”
Leah asks Lucien to leave the tavern with her. They turn their backs on Gavin and walk toward the exit. Lucien watches Leah in deep admiration as she leads the way outside into the city. Will Lucien find a way to recover Leah's pawned family heirloom pendant from the tavern keeper?
