In a secret chamber, the white-haired Hawthorne mage coughs up blood. He informs Godfery Hawthorne that his magical incarnation in Greytower was destroyed, assuming it was a spell backlash rather than a defeat. Meanwhile, the Greytower pawnshop burns to the ground. An elder from the Ashburn family rushes to the street after sensing a massive S-Class magic surge. The pawnshop keeper reveals the truth. The man who destroyed the building was trying to recover Lady Leah's pendant. The elder stands in shock. He remembers the moment Leah pointed at the beggar in the square.
